What You Should Know About Nipple & Areola Tattooing
Areola tattooing is a specialized form of permanent makeup designed to recreate the natural look of the areola and nipple. It is often the final step in the healing journey for breast cancer survivors, helping patients feel “whole” and “confident” again.
This treatment is for individuals who have experienced full or partial loss, irregularities, or inconsistencies due to breast reconstruction surgery. It is also available to those who wish to restore symmetry, enhance faded pigmentation, or soften the appearance of scars after breast augmentation.
The Process
We use advanced 3D nipple tattooing techniques to achieve the most realistic results. By carefully blending pigments from the Pink Ribbon series, the tattoo is designed to create natural dimension, color, and softness.
Color Matching: If only one breast was reconstructed, we match the tattoo to your existing areola. For bilateral reconstruction, we can use pre-surgery photos as reference or create a new size, shape, and shade.
Three Steps to Completion:
Consultation & pigment test – review goals, select shades, and assess skin.
Tattoo session – precise application of your custom areola and/or nipple.
Touch-up session – ensures balance, detail, and lasting results.
Comfort & Healing
Because reconstructed breasts do not have the same nerve sensation as before, most clients report little to no discomfort during the procedure. Areola tattooing can typically be performed six months after surgery, once approved by your physician.
Additional Options
Scar camouflage is available for patients with post-surgical scarring, including those who have had breast augmentation.
